Memorial Pleated Fans, also referred to as Black and Purple Flag Bunting, was used as early as the original Decoration Day, which today is known as Memorial Day. It was originated as a way to honor those who died in the Civil War. By the 20th century, it had grown to become a day to honor all American military members who have died in the line of duty. This Holiday is always observed on the last Monday in May. Black and Purple Memorial Pleated Fans are now being used at ceremonies to honor fallen Civil Service members, such as Police and Firefighters, as well as the military.
How are Pleated Fans Measured
The most common question I have been asked is; How are Pleated Fans measured? The answer is very simple. The 1st number is the drop down. The drop down, or length, is measured from the top center to the bottom center. The 2nd number is the width. The width is measured from the top left to the top right. For example, a 24" x 48" pleated fan is 24" drop down and 48" top width.
