The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation (now known as "Susan G. Komen for the Cure") was founded in 1982 in honor of Susan Goodman Komen by her sister Nancy Goodman Brinker. Since then, the pink ribbon has become the world symbol for Breast Cancer Awareness. It was first used in 1991 when the Susan G. Komen Foundation presented these pink ribbons to the participants of a New York City race honoring breast cancer survivors. The pink ribbon was then made the official symbol for National Breast Cancer Awareness Month the following year in 1992. To this date the symbol holds strong to the cause.

Now, every October, organizations and individuals around the world support the fight against breast cancer with fund raising and awareness events to support survivors and to help those still fighting.
Our Breast Cancer Awareness pink flag bunting helps give a visual reminder to the significance of any Breast Cancer Awareness Event.
